Rahm Delivers: Stop Police Mayhem!

http://www.foxnews.com/us/2015/12/01/chicago-police-supt-garry-mccarthy-fired-reports-say/

Finally some meaningful action in reaction to the shooting of a teenager who was holding a knife.  The incident happened in 2014.

The cop who shot the teen 16 times has since been convicted of first degree murder, a real step forward in this culture of protecting police who murder.

But Mayor Rahm Emanuel took it one step further, giving the boot to the Superintendent of Police in Chicagoland.

I hope this will be the start of a trend to hold police AND their supervisors legally responsible for their actions.  Police are not above the law!  And even if the kid had a knife…there are many ways of subduing a suspect without using a gun.  Even if the cop felt his life was truly in danger, it doesn’t take 16 bullets to neutralize one kid with a knife.

When you start blanket hating law enforcement, I’M OUT! So please take your displeasure with those who risk their lives everyday to protect you and DONT call them the next time you’re a victim of a crime. Perfect!

No respect for anyone who disparages law enforcement. Vomit!!!

    • Wow! Who said anything about “blanket hating law enforcement”? Do you condone shooting someone 16 times, even if they are brandishing a knife? How about the recent case in Seattle where an unarmed schizophrenic man was shocked with a stun gun and then, while on the pavement (being filmed by a bystander), was beaten over the head with the butt of the stun gun until dead? If you support murder by the people who are supposed to be protecting us, I guess there is no room for dialogue. By the way, I didn’t invite you here. You can certainly “be out,” and don’t let the door hit you in the ass.

  2. Hard to say police are protecting you when you end up dead in the street:

“776 People Killed By Police So Far in 2015, 161 Of Them Unarmed”

Also hard to say the police are protecting you when they make so much money from civil forfeiture. And if you call them in an emergency, there’s always the chance they’ll end up shooting you.

Police would rather ignore or protect the bad apples in their ranks — that’s what makes me want to vomit.

    • The vast majority of those killed by police are vulnerable individuals: the mentally ill, the homeless, the drug user with delirium, all of whom pose no threat whatever to the officers who “fear for their lives.” If they are so afraid of the people they are sworn to “serve and protect,” they need to get a less stressful job. And if they are simply sadistic killers, they need to be in prison, in the general population where they will get what they have coming to them.

We need honest, compassionate people on our law enforcement forces, not senseless killers who use the sick and helpless as their punching bags and targets.

  3. I think a person would need to be trained on how to deal with the mentally ill, and police officers don’t get that training. (They’re too busy training with weapons.) And because the police are forced into criminalizing mental illness, they react with force — it’s the only way they know.

There have been many cases of police officers killing the homeless and mentally ill here in Albuquerque. Last year, there were protesters out in the streets over the killing of a homeless man who was camping. The police demand strict and immediate obedience, and a lot of mentally ill people aren’t able to comply. Then the encounter escalates…

I guess what I’m saying is that the police can’t help those who suffer from mental illness. All they can do is subdue or arrest them, which is traumatizing, probably to both the person and the officer.

  4. This makes me very glad that our police don’t generally have guns here in the UK, especially because of one time when they did, post the 7/7 attacks on the London Underground, they shot an innocent victim who was probably running to catch the tube, because he happened to not be White British.

    • Yes, Britain is the model for effective law enforcement without armed police. You have so effectively illustrated the difference between armed and unarmed police! Or maybe it’s just that the British are more civilized 🙂

      • We have very different gun laws, so there’s much less gun crime but higher knife crime. Some groups of folks just seem to need to have weapons.
